What’s better than shopping in your pajamas? Maybe shopping in your pajamas while eating ice cream? Either way, shopping in pajamas is one of the reasons I love Amazon Prime. It’s great for Christmas shopping, birthday shopping, and of course for finding those random things you wouldn’t know where to find in a real store. I’ve also found some of my favorite clean eating foods to buy on Amazon.
Shopping from home is so much better than driving around from health food store to health food store looking for particular items I can’t find in my local grocery store. It has made it so much easier to find just I’m looking for.
Buying groceries on Amazon can save you money, too. You can buy a 6-pack of an item for a better price, for example. They also have a Subscribe & Save option that can save you money for things you use regularly.
Clean Eating Staples from Amazon
Here are the items I buy most often from Amazon Prime…
- Coconut oil. I use coconut oil for cooking, baking, skin care. It’s great for cooking eggs, can be used in place of butter in many recipes, and is a nice addition to your coffee. Sounds crazy but it’s true! Coconut oil is also amazing for your skin. You can read more about it in this post. And, Carrington Farms is my go-to brand.
- Pumpkin Seeds & Sunflower Seeds. Seeds are healthy, and especially since we can’t have nuts due to allergies, they are a staple in our house. They make a great snack, they’re delicious in salads, and I love pumpkin seeds in my yogurt. I’ve even made pesto from pumpkin seeds- and it came out amazing! Because of the risks of cross-contamination with nuts, we can’t buy most seeds sold in stores. That led me to Amazon where I found Gerbs. It’s a very allergy-friendly family company based in Vermont. Not only are the seeds safe for us, but they are also superior seeds. (Did you know there are superior seeds? I didn’t until I bought some pretty terrible ones.) They taste better than any brand I’ve tried and are of great quality. You can find their pumpkin seeds here and sunflower seeds here.
- Collagen. I become a real believer in collagen when I stopped taking it and noticed a difference. Collagen is good for skin and joints. When I go a few days without it, I feel more sore and achy. Like an old person. I use two tablespoons in my shake each day; it doesn’t add any taste. I chose this collagen because of its quality (based on reviews and online research) and value. I’ve been using it for a few years now and still love it. I usually buy the 2-pack of Great Lakes Gelatin-Collagen Hydrolysate because it’s a better price and it lasts a long time. You also get free measuring spoons with this option- woohoo! Or you can get a single here if you’re looking to try it out.
- Chia Seeds. Chia seeds are an amazing superfood. They pack a ton of protein and fiber in a tiny little seed. They’re also a great source of omega-3 fatty acids. I put them in my yogurt. You can also add them to smoothies, overnight oats, and use them in baking. There are lots of options out there, but here is one brand I like a lot.
- Sunbutter. Thank goodness for sunbutter. Again, my children’s allergies prohibit the use of peanut butter or almond butter or any of those other yummy butters in this house. I was so happy to find a replacement I love. This organic sunbutter is expensive, but it’s worth it to me. It tastes so much better than any other peanut butter alternative I’ve tried. My local grocery store does have it, but the price is usually better on Amazon. Lately, it has been pretty high, so I just keep checking in. When I find a good price I buy a 6-pack. Or two.
Amazon is great for things that local stores might not have. My grocery store is pretty well stocked, but many grocery stores don’t carry certain items. Here are some hard to find items I occasionally buy on Amazon…
- Unsweetened Shredded Coconut. Shredded coconut is great for baking and I always add a little extra to my granola. It’s delicious in yogurt, too. Lots of brands have added sugar.
- Bragg’s Liquid Aminos. This is a great alternative to soy sauce.
- Sweeteners. Xylitol, Swerve, Monkfruit, Stevia, you name it, you can find most of it on Amazon. Sugar alternatives can be hard to find. Amazon makes it easier and cheaper to buy them.
Amazon is also great when you’re looking for allergy friendly or gluten-free options. When I’m looking for nut-free treats for my kids, I always turn to Amazon.
Do you use Amazon for grocery items? I’d love to hear what you get!
P.S. Don’t forget to subscribe to my newsletter! When I find good buys on Amazon I’ll share them there 🙂
